This week students rotated between stations in the office. Each of the stations was specific to a service in the building industry. Many of the activities ranged from making edible concrete pudding to creating paper architecture. Below is a description of some of the exercises at each station. Hopefully these exercises helped create an understanding of how we can plan and develop our project at the end of the year.
STATIONS
Architecture (Cannon)
Paper model architecture exercise / Translation of paper models using plans and sections
Construction Project Management (Mortenson)
Developed project budget and timeline using a familiar room or space
Structure (Thornton Tomasetti)
Explored different structural terms using sweets / Exercises ranged from making edible concrete using pudding mix and M&ms to using Twizzlers to learn about tension
Owners Representative (GSA)
Viewed different building types and categorized them as either old or historical.
