This week the students met at Clune for a presentation about construction, project management, scheduling and the like. They were then given a value in design and construction exercise. With a time limit and strict money cap for supplies, they had to budget for, plan and build a structure that would span 6″ and, with a multitude of other requirements, be able to support a full can of soda. Students could sell back any supplies they hadn’t used for half of their bulk value. A somewhat involved, and incredibly fun and informative, exercise. Three of the four teams built successful structures!
Then the students brainstormed and voted upon the type of museum they wanted to design. The winner? That beat out the topics of music, local art, food, anime/fan fiction, and CTA? A Social Media Museum! Thesis statements coming soon.
