Sweet, sweet progress. We’re starting to turn program into spaces. Putting structural alteration into reality (metaphorically?). And by-George, we’re getting a Starbucks. (I’m mean isn’t that what it’s really always been about – our caffeine dependency? We have to get through architecture school somehow…see below…)

Nonetheless, over the next week, in anticipation of our next meeting, keep working on what you think this library should be. One of the most important things to remember when designing is that your first idea may not be your best idea. Trying different options might result in a better solution. In the real world, clients might ask, how can we do it differently? Can we do something that will save cost? Can we change, this, that, and everything else because I’ve changed my mind? (Trust me, it happens!)
For those of you who have access to the computer programs being used, we’ve uploaded a ton of information to the Google drive account. Homework will be required if we’re aiming at submitting for this competition. Feel free to email Yao or your personal buddy if you have any questions or problems with getting files from Google drive! Also, please, please, please, don’t save over anyone else’s work – make a separate or new file if you need to!
Last, but certainly not least, scholarship information is due FEBRUARY 21. Here are instructions of what you need to do to apply! And I know you technically have 2 weeks to get it finished, but don’t wait until the last minute to ask someone for a recommendation – totally not cool. Here’s the recommendation form, go ask now, and maybe you’ll get a really awesome letter just in time for the loving season that is valentines. (ACE mentors also accepting chocolates, just fyi.) See you all next week!
