Great job everyone on your site presentation proposals. Our site will be at the intersection of Rush and Chicago. Everyone did a great job in presenting their ideas on why the site would be a great location for our project. Issues that were discussed related to site surroundings, such as historical structures or construction site constraints. Everyone brought up excellent concerns during the group discussion.
Not only did we finalize the location for our project, but we built structural studies. We split into six groups that used a moment frame, shear wall, and braced frame structural system. After completing the structures we applied seismic forces to observe which system would be the most stable. The braced frame system did best; it resisted the most movement in the exercise.
