The charrette on June 27th was a big hit, allowing students to not only meet with architects, urban planners, engineers, film editors, landscape architects, interior designers, and members of the Chicago Park district, but they also worked with professionals, ultimately creating their own designs for the playground with a real budget, real client, and real understanding of the space.
TOM’S (and neighborhood’s) NEEDS:
- Balanced tree landscaping
- Flowering trees and plants
- Replacement of fence
- New water spray
- New play equipment
- New drinking fountain
The gist: A safe playground that integrates community involvement with people of all ages, while allowing children to have fun and families to enjoy nature.
