Students of ACE Mentor Program Team One have been awarded an Honorable Mention/Second Runner-Up in the 2011 CIRT/ACE National Design Competition. The team’s design project focused on the adaptive reuse of the Singer Pavilion, on the former Michael Reese Hospital Campus, into a school for the performing arts.
This is a great achievement for the ACE Chicago Chapter as it marks the first time a member of the Chicago affiliate has placed in the national competition. Most importantly it is a tremendous recognition of the accomplishments of the students this year. The prize comes with a cash award that will help support the programs and scholarships offered by the ACE Mentor Chicago Chapter.
The Team One students, all from Chicago area high schools, were led by volunteers from DeStefano Partners, The George Sollitt Construction Company, Thornton Tomasetti, and The Rise Group.
