Buildings Under Construction, Process…
“ …….UNDER CONSTRUCTION….. “
-…….UNDER CONSTRUCTION……
What: Construction Management Presentation + Activities
Where: Gilbane, 225 West Wacker Drive, Suite 2160
When: Thursday, December 3, 5:00 – 7:00 pm
Why: This week, students learned about Construction Management and what it takes to physically start a building from scratch. There are many roles in Construction Management including Estimating, Scheduling, Purchasing, Accounting, and Business Managers, etc. Refer to the links below for in depth information regarding the presentation. After the presentation, the Coke Can activity put all of these construction processes in action. Students made creations that could hold a full coke can. Aesthetics, Strength, Time, and Money were all important components. And that last minute change order probably took some by surprise. We think this awesome activity helps to demonstrate a small version of a real-world scenario. No doubt, students got a glimpse of half an hour in a construction manager’s shoes!
