Soo, the burning question on everyone’s (or just my) mind…anyone get lost on the way to Cannon’s office?  Sorry for sending you guys running around town every week, but it’s really nice to see the way different offices function.  In case anyone missed the meeting, I think it’s safe to say that the “shake table” pretty much took over with a life of its own.  Why is it always so darn fun to build things and then destroy them with a miniature mock-up of an earthquake simulation!? We happened to get our hands on a video of the “Dinosaur group” getting destroyed.  Why can’t the dinosaurs ever last?

Don't click this: this is NOT the video.

Next meeting:

Goettsch Partners office @ 224 South Michigan Ave, Floor 17

4:30 – 6:30 on 14 February

While the last meeting was a lot of fun and games having nothing to do with our theater, the next meeting is going to have a lot to do with it.  For the rest of the ACE program we’re going to be working on completing our project, working out the kinks, and beginning to put together a final presentation, and NO, you cannot put dinosaurs as entourage in the final renderings.  Next Tuesday is important because we’re going to be dividing into groups (architecture, construction, engineering) and focusing on that aspect of developing the building.  For the next few weeks you will be focusing exclusively on the group you’re in, as well as corresponding with the other groups to coordinate systems.  So, the architecture group will be working on both the interior and exterior design and function of the theater.  The engineering group will be determining structure and systems to make the building function, and the construction group will be laying out project management in how this building will physically be put together.  So begin thinking about what group you want to be in!

In addition, we’ll be going over the issue of sustainability during the next meeting.  It’s up to you guys how much of this should be part of the theater, but the use of sustainable practice is becoming ever more in demand in the construction industry, and it’s wise to go ahead and jump on the bandwagon now.  Any you know what happens when you miss the wagon in Oregon Trail: you get dysentery and you die.  So come to next weeks meeting, don’t let this happen to you!

Jump on the bandwagon now.
