Students and Mentors met at Thornton Tomasetti’s office.  Mortenson construction presented a project to the students to teach them about Construction sites, the logistics that need to be considered for building construction.  Students were placed in groups and each group had to discuss and draw where they were going to locate, Site entry points, access roads for trucks, site offices and store materials.  Next Thornton Tomasetti distributed, marshmallows, twizzlers, and  pretzel sticks to each student and demonstrated the different types of loads that exist in structures. Each group was then handed a set of construction drawings and they had to review the documents and answer questions regarding the project.  The task taught students how to read construction drawings.
